Consent

First and foremost, the Sand Pit is a Challenge room. This means that you do not have to enter the room and cannot be brought there against your will. Once you enter the room, however, you agree to abide by the outcome of what occurs there as determined by the Judges.

Spectators and other bar flies are welcome at all times, but may not interfere with the challenges. To do so is to be banned from the pit.

To use the room, you must first make a challenge to another Gorean or a weakling from Urth who may have wandered into the Jewel of Gleaming Thassa. They must then accept the challenge. A Judge of Port Kar must be available to officiate and determine the outcome. Further, all parties to the challenge must agree to the stakes and any limitations in weapons. These agreements must be witnessed by a Judge of Port Kar from all parties involved. Tavern Slaves must agree to their use as booty (unless their owner happens to loose a mortal combat...tsk tsk). The judge will record these agreements and enforce them.

Any use of the room without both a formal challenge and a Judge present will be considering sparring, the outcome of which has no standing in law. A judge may boot from the room any who are using the room for any other purpose if the room is needed to settle a dispute. Formal challenges have priority over sparring and such things as sand castle building, midnight trysts, etc.

The ruling of a Judge of Port Kar is final and cannot be reversed, even by the Judge who so ruled it.
